Mindfulness Journey

Fontashia’s journey of mindfulness began over ten years ago when she was listening to an interview Oprah gave about energy and how-to bring awareness to difficult feelings, situations, and even people. She decided in that moment that she wanted to study more about the practice and while researching she also began practicing various techniques. A few years later, while serving as a business education teacher at an alternative high school in Virginia Beach, she encountered a professional development course on mindfulness that heightened her interest even more.

Fontashia decided to enroll and successfully passed the Mindful Educators Essentials course offered by Mindful Schools. Since then she has taught secular mindfulness techniques to staff and students within schools, community-based programs, and attends a variety of mindfulness retreats to enhance and build skill.  She also hosts a variety of in-person and virtual retreats throughout the year.
